American's aren't big on Galliano, which is why 1534 bartender James Lombardino was excited to sneak 3/4 ounces of it into this bourbon-based smash. Alongside mint and lemon juice, the herbal liqueur brightens up autumn's favorite couple: bourbon and maple.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces bourbon, such as Bulleit
  • 3/4 ounce Galliano
  • 3/4 ounce fresh juice from 1 lemon
  • 1/2 ounce maple syrup
  • 5 mint leaves
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 mint sprig, for garnish

Procedures

  1. Combine bourbon, Galliano, lemon juice, maple syrup, and mint leaves in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake lightly for about 5 seconds, or flip shaker back and forth for a light shake.

  2. Fill rocks glass with crushed ice and strain cocktail carefully into glass. Add one or two small straws. Clap the mint sprig lightly between hands to release essential oils, garnish with mint sprig.
