The Self-Starter from Raines Law Room in NYC is head bartender Meaghan Dorman's answer for the drinker who wants a martini, but nothing too strong.
Note: Dorman uses a small spray bottle to coat the glass with just the right amount of absinthe (two spritzes). If you don't have a spray bottle, just rinse the glass with a small amount of absinthe and dump out.

Ingredients
1/2 ounce Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot
1 ounce Cocchi Americano
1 1/2 ounces Plymouth gin
Absinthe (see note above)
Garnish: lemon twist
Procedures
Add Orchard Apricot, Cocchi Americano, and gin to mixing glass. Fill with ice and stir until well chilled, about 20 seconds.
Rinse coupe glass with absinthe and dump out (or use 2 sprays of a spray bottle). Strain drink into absinthe-rinsed glass and garnish with lemon twist. Serve immediately.
