Ingredients

  • 2 cups (10 ounces) all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (3 1/2 ounces) sugar
  • 1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Procedures

  1. Adjust oven rack to upper and lower middle positions and preheat oven to 225°F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar for 1 minute. Whisk in egg, yolk, and vanilla extract. Add dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

  3. Scoop out dough in 1/4 cup measurements and drop onto baking sheet. Bake until just golden on the edges, about 15 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet.
